How cut-and-stack numbering works
Numbering straight across each page looks tidy, but once you cut a stack of sheets, each pile holds numbers ten apart (1, 11, 21 and so on) and someone has to sort them by hand.
Cut-and-stack order spreads the numbers across the sheets instead. With 30 tickets on 3 sheets, sheet 1 starts with 1, sheet 2 with 2 and sheet 3 with 3:
-
- 1
- 4
- 7
- 10
- 13
- 16
- 19
- 22
- 25
- 28

-
- 3
- 6
- 9
- 12
- 15
- 18
- 21
- 24
- 27
- 30
Stack the sheets in order, cut the stack along the ticket lines, and every pile is already in sequence: 1 to 3, 4 to 6, 7 to 9. Put the piles on top of each other and the whole run reads 1 to 30. It works the same for 3,000 tickets on 300 sheets.
How to print numbered tickets
- Choose Numbers only and enter how many tickets you need. Or paste a list if each ticket needs a name, a seat or a prize.
- Pick Raffle tickets with stub, 10 per sheet.
- The ticket comes with an event name, No. {{#}} , and the draw time and price; the stub repeats the number above Name and Phone lines, or above the name when your list has one. Change the wording to your event’s. {{#}} is the ticket number: set Start at and Digits (3 digits prints 001) in the numbering options.
- Set Order to Cut and stack, download the PDF and print at 100%.
Tips
- Print a single sheet first to check that the numbers sit on both sides of the perforation.
- Printing a second batch later? Start it at 501 so the numbers carry on from the first.
- Free PDFs hold 3 sheets, which is 30 tickets. Pro numbers up to 10,000.
